The Voice is making history with a brand new voting and results format that will be introduced in "The Live Playoffs" this season.

NBC has announced "The Live Playoffs" for Season 11 will commence next Monday night with real-time voting and real-time results all within the same two-hour episode beginning at 8PM ET/PT.

During that November 7 episode, the Top 20 artists -- five artists per team -- will all perform in one night hoping to land a spot in the Top 12. And during the broadcast, The Voice viewers will be able to vote in real time via Twitter and The Voice's official app.

Fans will have the power to advance two artists per team into the Top 12 and, for the first time ever, results will be revealed on the same night. Throughout the show, coaches Miley Cyrus, Alicia Keys, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton must each make an immediate decision to save one of his or her remaining team members, ultimately sending two artists home.

The remaining 12 artists will then move on to the "Live Shows" phase of the competition, which will begin on Monday, November 14.

The Voice is cramming all of these Playoff performances into one night, as well as the new real-time voting system, due to NBC's coverage of the presidential election which will begin on Tuesday, November 8. Such political coverage will prevent the show from airing its typical Tuesday-night performance and/or results shows.

The new voting method is a drastic expansion of the show's already-established "Instant Save" format for the live shows in which two singers perform back-to-back and then viewers vote via Twitter to save one of them within a short commercial-break window. The elimination occurs at the end of the episode.

During "The Live Playoffs" broadcast next week, viewers will be able to cast up to 10 votes per artist per team via The Voice's official app. Votes can also be placed on Twitter using the show's official handle @NBCTheVoice.

Viewers in the Eastern and Central time zones will be able to watch and vote during the live show. Those in the West and Mountain time zones will be able to vote at the same time as long as they follow the @NBCTheVoice handle on Twitter, which will announce which artists are eligible.

The special Playoffs episode will mark Miley and Alicia's first live-show appearance ever.

In addition, The Voice will go behind the scenes with four Facebook Live segments hosted by Jeff Dye from NBC's Better Late Than Never. The three artists to advance on each team will sit down with Dye immediately after they step off the stage for interviews and commentary.

The Facebook Live show will serve as an extension of the real-time voting because the artists can share their real-time reactions to the voting results.
