The Voice host Carson Daly revealed the results of the home viewer votes cast following Monday night's live performance show -- which had featured the ninth season's Top 9 artists taking the stage -- and five singers had to go home heading into next week's finale.

Gwen Stefani's team member Braiden Sunshine, Adam Levine's team members Amy Vachal and Shelby Brown, Pharrell Williams' team member Madi Davis, and Blake Shelton's team member Zach Seabaugh were all eliminated from the competition.

The four finalists who will compete for the title of "The Voice" and a recording contract will be Adam's artist Jordan Smith and Gwen's artist Jeffery Austin along with Blake's artists Emily Ann Roberts and Barrett Baber.

After Carson announced last night that The Voice received more home viewer votes Monday night than any other broadcast in its history, he declared Jordan, Emily Ann and Barrett were safe. The three singers therefore earned a spot in next week's final performance show.

Based on America's vote, Madi, Zach and Jeffery were afforded the chance to sing one last time in the hope of advancing in the competition via the show's "Instant Save," which utilizes Twitter. The three artists had to fight for one last spot in the finale and prove why they deserved to stay.

The news meant, however, that Braiden, Amy and Shelby were automatically ousted from the show.

For his "sing for survival" performance, Zach took the stage with "Live Like You Are Dying." Blake called him a star and said there's no question about his stage presence or work ethic. Blake would also love to hear Zach on country radio because he has a traditional sound that is lacking in the industry now.

Madi performed "Don't Dream It's Over" and got very emotional before, during and after it. Pharrell explained it's been such a pleasure to watch her fight throughout this season and he's not surprised America fell in love with her. Pharrell went out on a limb by saying, "It's Madi Davis' night," before he sweetly asked her not to cry.

Jeffery then wowed the audience with "Make It Rain." Gwen said it was "so obvious" Jeffery needed to be in the finale because he just opened his heart up to the world. She said he sings unbelievably and is such a unique talent.

America had a five-minute window to vote on Twitter, and by the end of the commercial break, Jeffery received 44% of the vote, Zach racked in 32% and Madi earned 24%.

Carson soon revealed that home viewers had decided to save Jeffery, who was absolutely thrilled and thankful.
