After both artists sang a survival song last night, America tweeted via the show's "Instant Save" format to keep Aaron in the competition. Darby was on The Voice coach Miley Cyrus' team, while Aaron continues to represent Miley on the show going forward.
Darby kicked off the elimination format by singing "Your Song" by Elton John for her survival song.
Alicia Keys told the artist that she loves her story and she's "spectacular," complimenting both her style and vocal ability. Alicia said Darby is "a vision" of what an individual and real artist looks like.
After addressing the audience saying it was "wack" for home viewers to have voted two of her team members into the bottom, Miley said winning means so much more than just the title of "The Voice," as it means living the truth and being happy.
Aaron, who has been praised for his unique sound during the competition, then followed that up with a performance of "Budapest" by George Ezra. Miley told him that she honestly couldn't believe he was in this situation after his incredible rendition of "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails on Monday night.
Miley said Aaron took the stage with a song that was important to him and did his very best. She also pointed out that her fellow coaches -- Alicia, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton -- agreed Aaron had delivered one of the best performances of the night.
Miley saw "perfection" in Aaron and noted they'll continue working together in some way even if he leaves the show.
Home viewers had a short five-minute window to vote for Darby or Aaron to stay on The Voice via Twitter. At the end of the final commercial break, it was a 73% to 27% vote in Aaron's favor.
"Where do I start?" Darby began telling her coach in tears before Tuesday night's final set of results were announced by The Voice host Carson Daly.
"Thank you for allowing me to come onstage and sing about things that mean something to me. Thank you for allowing me to be the free spirit that I am and express myself 10,000 percent, because people need to realize they can be who they are!"
Aaron was "instantly saved" by America for the second week in a row and will continue on to The Voice's Top 10 performance show next week.
