D.R., a 34-year-old from Harlem, NY, was ousted from the The Voice instead of Rayshun Lamarr, a 33-year-old from Fort Washington, MD, who was the other artist in the bottom two based on home viewer votes cast following Monday night's Top 12 performance show.

D.R. represented coach Kelly Clarkson's team on The Voice, while Rayshun will remain on coach Adam Levine's team going forward.

After both artists sang a survival song last night, America tweeted via the show's "Instant Save" format to keep Rayshun in the competition.

On Tuesday night, D.R. kicked off the elimination format by singing "Papa Was a Rolling Stone" by The Temptations for his survival song.

Kelly was "puzzled" D.R. fell into the bottom two because he's so talented. Kelly admitted that going into the live results show, she wasn't worried about her team at all, especially since D.R. has the "sickest range of anyone on the show."

Rayshun then followed that up with a performance of "I Can't Stand the Rain" by Seal.

Adam said he'll give America a pass this week but it made no sense for Rayshun to be in jeopardy of elimination.

After Rayshun's performance for survival, Adam called him a "spectacular talent" and noted he's "one of the best singers on the show this season." Adam was floored he could be watching this artist walk out the door so early.

Home viewers then had a short five-minute window to vote for D.R. or Rayshun to stay on The Voice via Twitter. At the end of the final commercial break, it was a 63% to 37% vote in Rayshun's favor.

In a final plea to save her team member, Kelly announced it was her birthday and she didn't want The Voice fans to make her cry on her birthday. She also pointed out how D.R. can sing anything, as he has performed Harry Styles, Dido and Imagine Dragons on the show.

Kelly asked America not to miss it this talent and to open their eyes and ears, but Adam was totally confident Rayshun would return next week.

Adam told Rayshun to believe that he'll move on because of the contestants left on the show, he's one of the best.

Both Kelly and Adam were "shocked" by the voting results, and Adam told home viewers that Rayshun is such "a valuable asset" to the show and no one has a spirit like him.

The Voice host Carson Daly announced the final set of results at the end of the night, and Rayshun was instantly saved for the Top 11, sending D.R. home.
