The Voice featured its Battle Round coming to a close and team members going head to head in the Knockout Round, resulting in powerhouse vocalists moving forward such as Khalea Lynee, Ricky Duran and Joana Martinez, during Season 17's Monday and Tuesday night broadcasts on NBC.

It was a big week for The Voice, as the show finished up its Battle Round and then moved on to the Knockout Round, during which two team members sing individual songs of their own choosing in the hope of impressing their coach and advancing in the competition.
Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are each allowed one "Steal" in the Knockout Round, and Taylor Swift served as the "mega mentor" for all contestants -- a position previously known as the "universal advisor."
Tuesday night's show featured three stunning Knockout faceoffs.
The first Knockout pairing was Khalea Lynee, a 36-year-old from St. Petersburg, FL, and James Violet, a 20-year-old from Syracuse, UT, on behalf of "Team Legend."

Khalea performed "Because You Loved Me" and received a standing ovation from Gwen, Blake and John. And James S.ng "Stay" by Post Malone for his Knockout performance.
Gwen joked about how James had "betrayed" her but she still loved him and could tell he tried to break free and have a very present performance.
Gwen complimented Khalea's performance as "magical" and "effortless," and Kelly agreed she had made singing a Celine Dion song seem effortless.
Blake was surprised by James' performance, but he was blown away by the tone of Khalea's voice and how powerful her vocals were. Blake basically said Khalea was out of this world.
But the decision was up to John. John said James "nailed it," while Khalea reminded him of Whitney Houston because she put just a little gospel on her huge pop ballad. He named Khalea the winner of this Knockout.

Gwen then matched Jessie Lawrence, a 31-year-old from Newark, NJ, with Kyndal Inskeep, a 22-year-old from Nashville, TN.
Jessie took the stage with "Dancing with a Stranger" by Sam Smith & Normani, while Kyndal sang "Elastic Heart" by Sia.
John and Gwen both gave Kyndal a standing ovation, and Gwen started to cry after both performances because she hated the idea of letting one of them go.
Kelly said Kyndal "sang the hell" out of her song and she loved the broken part of her voice, but the coach pointed out she should sing songs that allow her original voice to stand out rather than sound like she's imitating someone.
Blake agreed with Kelly but pointed out Kyndal had great control and pitch. Blake said Jessie went swinging for the fence but Kyndal had won.

John loved the power and emotion in Kyndal's voice, but he was hoping for a little more from her. He thought Kyndal's performance was stronger than Jessie's.
Gwen said Jessie can really work a stage but Kyndal's vocals came from her heart. She therefore named Kyndal the winner of the Knockout.
Blake then paired Joana Martinez, a 15-year-old from Miami, FL, with Ricky Duran, a 29-year-old from Austin, TX.
Joana performed "California Dreamin'" by The Mamas & The Papas, and Ricky sang "She Talks To Angels" by The Black Crowes. Ricky's performance got Kelly up on her feet.
John said Joana's performance was "fantastic" but he loved Ricky's stage presence and thought his body really conveyed the emotion of the song.

Gwen thought Joana's song choice and how she flipped it and made it her own was impressive, so Gwen thought Joana had the edge. Kelly loved to see Joana's spark, but she called Ricky "bad" and "good."
Kelly noted Ricky was more experienced and so it would probably be smarter for Blake to go with him.
Blake said he was "continuously blown away" by Joana's talent while Ricky was his only four-chair turn from the Blind Auditions. Although it was a difficult decision, Blake chose to advance Ricky.
However, Gwen opted to steal Joana for her own team because she wanted to work with the young singer from the very beginning.
During Monday night's broadcast, Blake paired up Marina Chello, a 37-year-old from Samarkand, Uzbekistan, singing "I (Who Have Nothing)" by Tom Jones against Cali Wilson, a 28-year-old from Salem, IA, with "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak. Blake announced Cali had won the Knockout.
For "Team Kelly," Jake Hoot, a 31-year-old from Cookeville, TN, sang "Cover Me Up" by Jason Isbell against Melinda Rodriguez, a 23-year-old from Miami, FL, who performed "Always Be My Baby" by Mariah Carey. Kelly decided Jake had won the Knockout.
John then matched Max Boyle, a 23-year-old from Toledo, OH, with Katie Kadan, a 38-year-old from Chicago, IL.
Katie belted out "Piece of my Heart" by Erma Franklin, while Max took the stage with "When The Party's Over" by Billie Eilish. John called Katie a "superstar" and said she had won the Knockout.
But then both Kelly and Gwen attempted to steal Max, who chose to join Kelly's team.
Prior to the Knockout Round commencing, the Battles came to a close on Monday night.
Jake Haldenvang, a 24-year-old from Charlotte, NC, defeated Caroline Reilly, a 16-year-old from Cumming, GA, for a spot on "Team Gwen."

On behalf of "Team Legend," Preston C. Howell, a 15-year-old from Miami, FL, won his Battle against Mendeleyev, a 28-year-old from Santa Barbara, CA.
Ricky Braddy won his battle against Jordan Chase on "Team Blake" as shown in a montage of Battles, and Gwen picked Calvin Lockett over Brennen Henson.
And in a Battle for Kelly's team, Lauren Hall, a 25-year-old from West Hollywood, CA, went up against the duo Hello Sunday from Atlanta, GA, comprised of 14-year-old Myla Finks and 13-year-old Chelsea Glover.
Kelly declared Hello Sunday the winner, but then Blake stole Lauren for his own team.
