The X Factor eliminated Marcus Canty and determined its Top 3 acts Thursday night during the new Fox reality singing competition's seventh live results show.

Unlike in weeks prior, The X Factor judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger, and L.A. Reid did not have any say in who was going to be sent home, as the results were strictly based on America's vote.
"Why are you looking sad, Steve?" Canty asked Jones.
"Because I like you and I don't want you to go!" Jones replied.
"It's all good! You'll see me later, man! It's not over. Trust me. This is not the last time you will see Marcus Canty. You know something? God blessed me so much -- being here in this competition, I gave it my all and that's really, at the end of the day, that's all you can do! I love America, man! Thanks to all my supporters for voting for me. My family back at home, I love ya'll. Don't cry. I know you're all probably crying. Stop crying, it's alright. Relax. We're going to get through it," Canty said following his elimination.
Jones revealed that Chris Rene and Melanie Amaro had both advanced to the competition's finale -- leaving Josh Krajcik and Canty up for elimination. According to Jones, the names of the two acts who had definitely survived another week were called out in no particular order and Krajcik was not necessarily a bottom-two finisher.
"Well, I've got a lot of hope. I've got a lot of great supporters out there. I just hope that they came through for me and that I can get to work for the finals! I just really hope that I can do that," Krajcik said backstage before the final results were revealed.
"I sang for survival three weeks in a row, but you know, I just want America to give me a chance. I'm here and I want to win just like everybody else. So, just give me a chance! That's all," Canty explained.
Abdul had no acts remaining in her "Group" category, while Cowell mentored Amaro in his "Girls Under 30" category. Rene and Canty were the acts remaining in Reid's "Boys Under 30" category prior to Canty's ouster, and Scherzinger's one remaining "Over 30" act was Krajcik.
Jones then declared Krajcik safe and announced Canty's elimination without any discussion or voting from the judges.
"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little sad, right? I'm really connected to Marcus. He's amazing. I'm not happy to see you go. I think you're a major star -- a great singer. You've done great. I know you'll continue to do great, and you have my support," Reid told Canty.
The Top 3 finalists will now compete in next week's final performance show on Wednesday night, which will decide who will be the winner of The X Factor. The final results show will then announce the competition's champion Thursday night.
