The X Factor eliminated Carlos Guevara and determined the third season's Top 12 finalists during Wednesday night's Fox broadcast of the reality singing competition.

Carlos, a 16-year-old from Lexington, SC, was ousted from the competition after receiving the fewest home viewer votes cast following last Thursday night's special Top 13 performance show.

Thursday night's show had featured The X Factor's Top 13 competitors singing new songs for viewer votes after an error in the voting system had forced the show to throw out the results of last Wednesday night's original Top 13 performance show.

"This has been the best experience of my life. I got to do what I always wanted to do and these guys are my best friends. They're going to do awesome," Carlos said following his ouster.

Carlos was in mentor Paulina Rubio's "Boys" category.

"Carlos, you are an inspiration. I'm so, so honored to be working with you. You had the hearts of all America. You did great. Keep going, keep doing it. You're a champion!" Paulina told her artist.

Fellow mentors Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato and Kelly Rowland all still have their categories intact.

Wednesday night's show also featured the Top 12 acts taking the stage and performing a hit from the 1980s.

Simon predicted Carlito Olivero, a 24-year-old from Chicago, IL, will get sent home next week. Demi said if it was up to her, she'd eliminate Tim Olstad, a 24-year-old from Winona, MN, going forward.

The acts who took the cake for having the best performances last night were Rachel Potter, a 29-year-old from Nashville, TN; Ellona Santiago, a 17-year-old from San Lorenzo, CA; Khaya Cohen, a 16-year-old from New York, NY; and Josh Levi, a 15-year-old from Houston, TX.

Demi told Khaya and Ellona they "killed it" onstage. Rachel was told by the judges she could win the whole competition, and Josh was praised for his drastic improvement and potential. Josh had previously been eliminated but was brought back to join the Top 13 because the mentors felt they had made a mistake.

Thursday night's results show will feature a double elimination based on America's vote. Two acts will go home and The X Factor will determine its Top 10 acts.
