A family of morbidly obese Americans will reportedly be the focus of a new reality series.

"Little People, Big World is about little people living in a big world. This is about big people living in a little world -- fat people living in a skinny world," RDF USA executive Mike Duffy, who created the show, told The Reporter.
Tentatively-titled One Big Happy Family, the series will chronicle a family that lives just outside Charlotte, NC and consists of a 40-year-old man weighing 340 lbs.; his 35-year-old wife, who is close to 400 lbs.; and their 330 and 340 lbs. teenage kids, according to The Reporter.
Duffy said the series will have each cast member tell their stories in first person and added it will pay special attention to the children -- a boy and a girl.
"High school is hard enough to deal with -- imagine what it would be like to be morbidly obese," he told The Reporter.
Despite a desire to shed unwanted weight, Duffy stated that One Big Happy Family will have few other similarities to NBC's The Biggest Loser.
"This is not a game show where contestants have TV trainers and obesity specialists everyday as they are competing for a $250,000 prize," he told The Reporter.
"This is a very loving family. They are dedicated to losing the weight because they communicate as well as love each other so much."
Duffy said the idea for the show originated from his own family experiences -- including having a father who at age 60 lost 200 lbs..
"Growing up, we had a problem with obesity, and I know how it feels to be fat," he told The Reporter, adding "watching television, it occurred to me that there is a void for programming where we deal with obesity in the family unit."
TLC has ordered six half-hour episodes of the series, which is being produced by RDF USA.
