Cake Boss -- which follows cake artist Buddy Valastro and his large Italian family as he runs Carlo's Bakery, a Hoboken, NJ bakery that specializes in novelty and special occasion cakes -- premiered on the network on May 25 immediately after Jon & Kate Plus 8's record-setting fifth season premiere.
Buoyed by its post-Jon & Kate timeslot, Cake Boss' Monday night broadcasts have averaged 2.3 million viewers since the show's debut. In addition, the series has also ranked as the No. 1 cable food show in the Adults 18-34 and Women 18-34 ratings demographics in July.
"Cake Boss has been a sweet success for TLC, and the audience has clearly fallen in love with Buddy and his family as much as we have," TLC president and general manager Eileen O'Neill said.
Cake Boss' first-season finale will air Monday, August 17 at 10PM ET/PT. The show's 18-episode second season has already begun production and is scheduled to premiere this fall.
