Tommy Chong plans to wear a lot of green on "Dancing with the Stars" this season.
"I want to be the poster boy for the marijuana community," the actor told Time. "They can point at me and say, 'Look at him! He's 76 years old, he can dance, he's healthy, he has a beautiful wife and he smokes marijuana for medical purposes.'"
"Medical marijuana is my passion in life," he continued. "I went to jail for my beliefs. Now that we're getting legal, I want to focus on the benefits of medical marijuana -- it helps little children with epilepsy and MS, and it helped me with my cancer."
Chong acknowledged the network is not allowed to show "pot leaves" or "bongs," but said he himself represents a pot leaf. The actor will be wearing a lot of green, and said partner Peta Mugratroyd "is going to look like a little marijuana bud."
The nineteenth season of "Dancing with the Stars" premiered Monday on ABC, and Chong and Mugratroyd scored a 27 with their first dance. The actor's longtime comedy partner, Cheech Marin, made a cameo in a low-rider at the beginning of the performance.
