America's TV Guide Network says it has green-lit its first original reality docu-soap, "The Nail Files."
The show was created and produced by Sally Ann Salsano and 495 Productions, the team behind the hit series "Jersey Shore."
"The Nail Files" stars Katie Cazorla, a 32-year-old entrepreneur who owns and operates the celebrity-filled Hollywood nail salon, The Painted Nail, while juggling a relationship with 52-year-old Walter Afanasieff, a Grammy Award-winning songwriter and producer who's penned and produced hits for Mariah Carey, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston, the network said in a news release.
The six-episode series will premiere on TV Guide Network in mid-2011.
"The producers of 'Jersey Shore' have once again come up with a highly entertaining, non-scripted series capturing the fascinating lives of colorful individuals, this time against the backdrop of Hollywood," Diane Robina, the network's executive vice president of programming and marketing, said in a statement Wednesday.
"'The Nail Files' is a perfect fit for our audience, as it takes viewers on the star-powered fast track of Katie's life of luxury, love and entrepreneurial adventures."
Salsano said Cazorla made a good first impression when they met.
"I love working with entertaining, raw, everyday people with some sass and a point of view," Salsano said. "Watching Katie in her element both in and out of the salon wowed me.
"It's Katie's will to succeed and confidence, do whatever it takes attitude, and lack of filter that will keep audiences wondering what she will do or say next. I love her."
