Corey Haim had apparently hoped to give viewers a glimpse into his struggles with sobering up via a new reality series.

The former The Two Coreys star and teen idol -- who was found dead from an apparent accidental drug overdose last week -- had previously attempted to develop a new reality series called Lost Boy Found, E! News reported Tuesday, adding the show would have followed Haim as he fought to stay clean and launch a music career.

"This project wasn't about exploiting him or showing him stoned," producer Jim Katz, who worked with Haim on the project, told E! News.

"This was about his decision to clean himself up."

Katz said he began working with Haim on Lost Boy Found about a year ago and added that Haim had hoped to join his friend-- musician Gerard "G Tom Mac" McMahon -- on the road, according to E! News.

"What people don't know is that Corey actually had an amazing singing voice," Katz told E! News.

In addition, Haim discussed the project in a January 2009 interview with blogtalkradio.com.

"It's not just about getting well, it's about staying well," he told the website, according to E! News.

However Katz was unable to sell the series and said he had not seen Haim since filming ended a year ago.

"He was a charming little kid," Katz told E! News. "I call him a little kid, because he was like a sweet little kid with so much love."

While Haim's mother has claimed his death was due to pulmonary congestion, an official determination is not expected to be made until after toxicology test results are complete.

A funeral was held on Tuesday for Haim in his hometown of Toronto.
