Rodeo star Ty Murray says he got a black eye while practicing for "Dancing with the Stars," but insists it won't impact his dancing on the U.S. TV series.

Murray said while preparing for the next episode of the ABC series' eighth season, he was struck in the face by partner Chelsie Hightower's microphone pack, E! Online reported Friday.

"What happened is that I threw Chelsie into the air during a group rehearsal and her mic pack fell off and hit me in the eye," the rodeo cowboy said in a statement. "It was bleeding for a little while and is slightly black and blue, but I kept ice on it and it won't have any effect on our dancing."

Murray compared the practice injury to injuries he's witnessed during his bull riding career.

"It's not a big deal to me, because in bull riding I see that from time to time, but I guess people aren't used to seeing a little blood in the ballroom," Murray told E! Online jokingly.
