Peter Weber was recently announced as The Bachelor's Season 24 star, but Tyler -- who finished as Hannah Brown's runner-up on The Bachelorette -- apparently had a chance to accept the role first.

When asked if The Bachelor gig was offered to him, Tyler told Entertainment Tonight, "Yeah. It was something we talked about."
The 26-year-old general contractor from Florida who recently moved to New York and is pursuing a modeling career explained he just couldn't see himself starring on the franchise.

"Where I was at in my life and at this point in my life, I just didn't think it was where I wanted to be. My heart wasn't in it," Tyler shared.
Tyler, who is currently dating supermodel Gigi Hadid, also admitted the current status of his love life played a big part in his decision.
"You shouldn't go on the show if you have a girlfriend," Tyler said matter-of-factly, although he seemingly tried to quickly cover up his tracks.
"I wasn't saying I have a girlfriend. But if you're dating somebody or seeing somebody, [you shouldn't do that]."
Tyler was apparently referencing the fact Jed Wyatt competed for Hannah on The Bachelorette despite having a girlfriend back home in Nashville, TN.

Jed and Hannah got engaged during the Season 15 finale, but she dumped him after finding out he had lied about the extent of his dating history prior to going on the show.

Tyler then continued to elaborate on why he turned down the huge opportunity of being the Bachelor.
"My heart wasn't 100 percent there, and that's something you've got to be fully invested in," Tyler told ET.
"I was on the other side as a contestant, which is a much easier role than being the lead of the show."

Tyler also revealed his father's health was failing at the time of ABC's invitation to star on the reality dating series.
"My dad was really sick and I was kind of nervous and scared," Tyler shared. "I sat on it, thought on it, and my heart wasn't in it."
Tyler insisted, however, his beloved father is "doing much better now" and "bouncing back."
"It's tough because when you're in New York, you can hear it in his voice when he's not feeling good and when he is feeling good," Tyler said.
"So lately, every time I call him, he's been sounding good, so that's awesome. I'm going to get home to see him soon."

Tyler apparently has his father to thank for his drive in pursuing his dreams right now in New York.

"He's definitely pushing me. He's been an amazing support system through this. There's times where I want to just go home and see him and hang out and he's like, 'No, stay up there, do what you gotta do,'" Tyler shared.
"Hopefully I'll get him up to New York soon. He wants to see the leaves change and all that. So I plan on getting him up here soon... That's my guy. I love him."
Tyler also told ET that he feels great about Peter, a 28-year-old pilot from California, starring on The Bachelor next season.
"I think Peter's going to be amazing. I'm excited to watch Peter. He's just -- he's got so much joy in that smile, and he's got that subtle swagger... he's great," Tyler gushed of his pal from The Bachelorette.
"I think he will fall hard for somebody. He may fall hard for a couple people because we saw it with Hannah. It's tough. It's a very hard position to be in. I think he's got a genuine heart. It's going to hurt him to say goodbye to people, but he's a class act. Look at his family. He comes from an amazing family."
Tyler clearly has the utmost confidence in Peter, adding, "Peter, keep killing it brother. I'm proud of you. I'm so stoked for you. Go find your girl."

Peter's The Bachelor season already began filming and will premiere Monday, January 6, 2020 on ABC.
Tyler and Gigi, the close friend of Keeping Up with the Kardashians star Kendall Jenner, appeared to begin dating in early August -- not long after the pair began following each other on Instagram.

Since then, the couple has been spotted out together multiple times in New York City, where Tyler reportedly just got an apartment.
The pair then went public with their relationship when Gigi brought Tyler to a 2019 MTV Video Music Awards afterparty at The Fleur Room at the Moxy Chelsea hotel on August 26, according to Us Weekly.
Tyler also accompanied Gigi to her grandmother's funeral in the Netherlands earlier this month.
Before setting eyes on Tyler, Gigi -- whom a source had told Us is "really into" Tyler -- reportedly had an on and off relationship with Zayn Malik from late 2015 through January 2019.
Not only has Gigi modeled in high-profile campaigns and runway shows, such as the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, but she has also graced the covers of magazines including Vogue.
Meanwhile, Hannah is currently single and competing on Season 28 of Dancing with the Stars.
Peter finished Hannah's season of The Bachelorette in third place earlier this year. Peter fell in love with Hannah and was blindsided by his rejection.
