Ultimate Survival Alaska star Jimmy Gojdics has died at 69-years-old.

Gojdics, who sometimes spelt his last name "Gaydos" due to its pronunciation, was shot in his home in Fox, AK, on Sunday afternoon, the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported.

Alaska State Troopers are reportedly investigating the case as a homicide after being notified of a shooting at 3:06PM at Gojdics home. The reality TV star was found "suffering from apparent gunshot wounds," according to a trooper's press release, and later died at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.

Trooper spokesperson Tim Despain said on Monday he's unaware if there are any suspects in Gojdics' killing.

Gojdics' friend Janine Carlson told Fairbanks Daily he had no family in the area but was interested in traveling as well as building things from skyscrapers in New York to rafts in Alaska.

"Everyone was his friend and he met someone everywhere," Carlson reportedly said of the retired ironworker, outdoorsman and reality television character from the National Geographic Channel show.

Gojdics appeared on the second season of Ultimate Survival Alaska but sustained an injury that prevented him from further competing on the show. His team therefore finished in fourth place.

"We were saddened to learn of Mr. Gaydos's untimely passing and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family at this difficult time," network representative Chad Sandhas said in a statement obtained by the newspaper.
