"I'm engaged!" The Bachelor star told People in a Wednesday report. "I found exactly what I was hoping for, what I was looking for. I'm completely in love."
Mesnick, a 32-year-old divorced father from Seattle, WA who was rejected by DeAnna Pappas on this past summer's edition of The Bachelorette, also said he's been amazed by how much his life had changed in the past year.
"I can't believe it's this great," he told People.
Mesnick, the first single parent in The Bachelor's history, told People he had agreed to star in the show in order to pursue his desires to have "a relationship and a family."

"I don't want to be by myself," he said.
Mesnick also noted that he didn't go on the show looking for a mother for Ty, his three-year-old son.
"I was not looking for a mom," he told People. "I was looking for a partner for me and a mentor and a friend to Ty."
Mesnick's The Bachelor proposal will mark only the fourth time in the show's last ten editions that a season has ended with an engagement. It will also represent the first time that two consecutive seasons have ended with engagement proposals since former The Bachelor stars Aaron Buerge and Andrew Firestone proposed at the end of the show’s second and third seasons.
Mesnick's The Bachelor edition will premiere on Monday, January 5 at 8PM ET/PT.
