"Nashville Star works because it showcases the best untapped musical talent on television," USA executive Jeff Wachtel gushed in the network's announcement of the tour schedule. "One thing we've learned over the past three seasons is that there's an incredible pool of talented performers whose voices have yet to be heard."
Nashville Star 4's casting tour will visit seventeen cities, beginning with a stop at the Saddle Ranch Chop House in Los Angeles, CA on October 21. In each city, those auditioning will have one minute to perform a song off an approved song list. The talented and lucky ones will be invited back the next day where they will have a chance to sing either two cover songs from the approved song list or one song off the list and an original song. The top contestants will then proceed on to one of two regional competitions where they will again audition for a chance to appear on the show. The auditions are open to women and men who will be at least 18 years old as of January 1, 2006.
For those who can't make it to get to any of the show's upcoming open casting calls, mail-in applications are also available from the show's USANetwork.com website.
