"America's Next Top Model" executive producer Ken Mok also signed on for the USA series that is to debut in late spring or early summer, Daily Variety reported. Elimination-style competition at HSN's Florida headquarters will result in one inventor winning a one-year contract to sell their creation on HSN.
The show is the first under Libby Hansen, an alternative programming executive who left ABC last year to help revive USA's reality programming, Daily Variety reported.
"What I like about this idea is that the stakes are real," Hansen said. "I was part of (the team behind) 'The Benefactor,' so I can't point fingers. But this will see feasible dreams come true. That alone has got tremendous universal appeal."
