USA Network has announced the national casting tour schedule for Nashville Star 5, the fifth edition of its American Idol-like country music reality talent competition that will premiere in January 2007.

Nashville Star 5's casting tour will visit thirteen cities, beginning with a stop at Wild Bill's in Atlanta, GA on August 31. In each city, those auditioning will have one minute to perform a song off an approved song list. The talented and lucky ones will be invited back the next day where they will have a chance to sing either two cover songs from the approved song list or one song off the list and an original song. The top contestants will then proceed on to one of two regional competitions where they will again audition for a chance to appear on the show. The auditions are open to women and men who will be at least 18 years old as of January 1, 2007.

For those who can't make it to get to any of the show's upcoming open casting calls, mail-in applications are also available from the show's USANetwork.com website.

As in the past, the winner of Nashville Star's fifth edition will receive a major music recording contract with a top-level record label.
