Val is a 30-year-old professional dancer and choreographer who stands six feet tall and is the little brother of Dancing with the Stars pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

Val joined DWTS in Season 13 as a pro partner and won the show's 20th season with actress Rumer Willis, a feat the uber-competitive pro had anxiously been waiting to accomplish.

- Born Valentin Aleksandrovich Chmerkovskiy in the Ukraine on March 24, 1986, he and his family relocated to Brooklyn, NY, in 1994.

- He is a classically trained violinist and once played concertmaster violin with his youth orchestra in Carnegie Hall.

- Val graduated high school from The Hudson School in Hoboken, NJ, and went on to study Business Management in college.
