While the company has been run by Sonja, Brandy and Ray J must now take on more responsibility as she has decided to step down.
Ray J and Brandy have previously worked together on several projects -- including when he played her little cousin on the sitcom Moesha, which aired on the now-defunct UPN from 1996 to 2001.
Brandy later served as a judge on America's Got Talent's first season, however she was replaced by Sharon Osbourne prior to the NBC reality competition series' second installment in 2007. For the Love of Ray J has aired two seasons on VH1.
Last October, Ray J revealed that he was collaborating with 51 Minds Entertainment, the production company behind his VH1 reality dating series, to develop a new reality series focused on his family.
VH1 subsequently ordered the 11-episode series.
In addition to Brandy and Ray J: A Family Business, VH1 also announced Basketball Wives, a new docu-reality series following the wives of NBA stars, and What Chili Wants, a new reality dating series starring former TLC member Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, will also premiere on April 11.
