Longtime entertainer Wayne Newton and his professional partner Cheryl Burke were revealed to be the third couple eliminated from Dancing with the Stars' fifth season during last night's live results show broadcast on ABC.

"I think it's important to live life, not exist in it," said Wayne after host Tom Bergeron revealed he was the third celebrity participant sent packing.  "Being comfortable is wonderful, but stepping out --even if you fail -- is not failing to me."

Wayne and Cheryl were among the bottom two couples based on a combination of the judges' scores from Monday night's performance episode and home viewer votes cast following the broadcast.  Professional boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. and professional partner Karina Smirnoff were the other couple in the result show's bottom two.

Wayne and Cheryl performed a tango routine during Monday night's performance episode, and Dancing with the Stars' judges scored it an 18 out of a possible 30 points -- the lowest score of any of the 10 couples who performed.  It was the second week in a row they had received the lowest judges scores.

Wayne, who is also known as Mr. Las Vegas, donned a fake mustache and ponytail to help him get into character for the routine.

"I love the look.  I think this look is great on you," commented Dancing with the Stars judge Carrie Ann Inaba.  "I love that you went for a laugh.  You definitely created a character and you brought the character to life and you stayed in-tune with that character."

However Carrie Ann added there were a few "awkward moments" that "crept" into the tango routine.

"It felt like at times, Cheryl was leading you," said Carrie Ann, a comment fellow judges Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli agreed with.

"You have to take over," said Bruno.  "The man has to lead."  Len thought the "mood" of the performance was "great," but added it detracted from their technique.

"You spent so much time on the character, the dance some how disappeared," he said.

Last night's ouster of Wayne and Cheryl also marked the professional dancer's earliest exit ever from the ABC reality competition show.  Cheryl won Dancing with the Stars' second season with former 98 Degrees member Drew Lachey and its third season with former NFL star Emmitt Smith before finishing fourth with Ian Ziering last season.

"Wayne, you're a phenomenal man and it's been such an honor working with you," said Cheryl.  "It's just ben one of the best experiences of my life."

Disney's The Cheetah Girls star Sabrina Bryan and professional partner Mark Ballas; Spice Girl Melanie Brown and professional partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy; as well as actress Jane Seymour and professional partner Tony Dovolani were all atop the Dancing with the Stars' judges leader board following Monday night's performance episode, with each scoring 27 points.

While Sabrina and Mel are accustomed to scoring well during the competition, it marked the highest score received by Jane so far.  Jane wasn't in attendance at last week's live result show because her 92-year-old mother Mieke Frankenberg died following last Monday night's performance episode due to complications from a stroke she suffered earlier this year.

"Dancing with the Stars -- the English version --  was my mom's favorite show ever," said Jane during a video clip that aired during Monday night's broadcast.  "When I told her I was thinking of doing the show and that I was hoping that if I did it were make her proud, she spoke for the first time [since the stroke], and she went, 'Yes!'  My mom knew that dancing was the great love of my life."

After flying to England to attend her mother's funeral, Jane said she never stopped training for this week's tango routine.

"The intensity of passion that I need to come-up with for this dance, I am channeling and using all the feelings that are really... I'm kind of trying to hold them together now just so I can get through," she continued.  "I know my mom wants me to do this.  I think she'd be very proud of me for just persevering.  Tony and I are dedicating this particular tango to my mother Mieke, and I'm going to dance with the passion and love and pride that I had in my mom and that she had in me."

Hot on the Top 3 couples' heels were former Beverly Hills 90210 actress Jennie Garth and professional partner Derek Hough as well as entertainer Marie Osmond and professional partner Jonathan Roberts, who each scored a 26.

Rounding out the judges' leader board were IndyCar racer Helio Castroneves and professional partner Julianne Hough with a 24; All My Children actor Cameron Mathison and professional partner Edyta Sliwinska with a 23; Floyd and Karina with a 21; as well as billionaire entrepreneur and former The Benefactor star Mark Cuban and professional partner Kym Johnson with a 20.

Despite scoring slightly better than Mark and Kym with the judges, Floyd and Karina couldn't drum-up enough fan support to remain out of the bottom two.

"Floyd, I don't think we've seen the best of you yet," said Len prior to Tom revealing Wayne and Cheryl were eliminated.  "Boxing and dancing are very similar:  the more you sweat the better you get.  If you were to apply yourself, listen to Karina, you could go all the way."

Dancing with the Stars 5's fourth performance episode will air live on Monday, October 15 at 8PM ET/PT on ABC, with each of the nine remaining couples dancing either the Paso Doble or Viennese Waltz.  On Tuesday, October 16 at 9PM ET/PT, another couple will be eliminated from the competition based on a combination of the judges' scores and home viewer votes.

In addition, next Monday night's performance episode broadcast will mark the return of Dancing with the Stars co-host Samantha Harris, who along with husband Michael Hess welcomed their first child together on September 23.

Samantha's return means the departure of Drew, who had been serving as her fill-in while she was away.  However he'll be back on ABC in January to host the new reality competition show Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann.
