Whitney Bischoff has been criticized for basically drowning in Chris Soules' love on The Bachelor and being willing to sacrifice everything in order to be with him in Arlington one day, but she has set the record straight.

"It's always been important for me to stand on my own two feet. But I would not have accepted the proposal if I wanted something different. I'm so in love," Bischoff told People in its March 23 issue.

The newly-engaged couple plan to move to Los Angeles together while Soules competes on Dancing with the Stars.

"I think it will be a good transition for us to start the journey together in LA, and then we can take the next step... I have no plans to quit my job. I won't lose myself in a man," said Bischoff, a fertility nurse who's recently landed a new job in her field that allows her to work from anywhere.

"But I know [farming] is something Chris is so passionate about. I'd like to learn about it, and I hope that our children can learn the trade as well."

Bischoff said during The Bachelor she's wanted to be a wife and a mom her entire life, but she wasn't going to sit around and just wait for that to happen.

"I think it's important to establish yourself and work hard. My career is something that defines me. It's important to me... But once I have kids, absolutely I would love to be able to stay at home with them," she explained.

As far as Soules' viewpoint on the topic goes, the Bachelor had previously told Andi Dorfman she had the opportunity to be a homemaker in Arlington, IA, when the former assistant district attorney asked him what she could do for a job there.

Bischoff's determination to maintain a successful career she's passionate about on the farm would seem to conflict with Soules' expectations.

"I want someone who has both, to a certain extent. Someone who has a career and is driven, like Whitney, and now wants to have the next chapter and be a mother," Soules clarified in the People interview.

"I want Whitney to be happy -- that's most important, [whether] it's working and raising children or being a stay-at-home mother. I think it's a blessing to be able to stay at home. You can always go back to your career. [Dads] stay at home too, though that is something I don't plan on being!"

The couple still has a lot to learn about one another, but they plan to give 100% to their relationship and will enjoy the fact no one is in charge of what they're supposed to do next.

"We're both very real, so it's been a smooth transition," Soules said, adding that he only wants to get married once. "Whitney is exactly who I've been looking for for a long time. She's what I've always wanted."
