CMT is reviving Wife Swap, which the network calls "the greatest and most successful televised social experiment of our time."

Wife Swap originally aired from 2004 through 2010 on ABC.

A celebrity version of the show also debuted in 2012 and lasted for four seasons. One episode featured former The Bachelor star Sean Lowe and his wife Catherine Giudici switching lives with the franchise's former star Jason Mesnick and his wife Molly Malaney.

Wife Swap features two extremely different families, usually from varying social classes or lifestyles, switching spouses.

Not only must these spouses embrace each other's differences, but families often learn to sacrifice some of their initial ways or views to better life at home. For example, a messy wife might swap places with a meticulous and organized one, and the women will find a happy medium.

The one-hour, 10-episode docu-reality series will spotlight two families from different geographical and social backgrounds highlighting issues throughout the experiment such as politics, classism, gender and race with the end goal of everyone finding common ground.

"During each switch, the new spouses must at first adhere to exactly the same rules and lifestyle of the spouses being replaced, only to later establish their own rules," CMT explained of the show's concept.

"At the end, the two couples meet for the first time, where they discuss what they learned from the swap and what changes and new rules will remain once they return home."

The revival of Wife Swap comes on the heels of ratings growth for CMT, as the network just had its best February performance overall in four years.
