Alexandra Reid, known mononymously as Alex (born March 5, 1989), is an American singer-songwriter, composer, and model. She is a member of the South Korean girl group RaNiA.

Biography

Early career

Alex was born in Lawrence, Kansas, but spent her teen years in Plano, Texas and attended Plano Senior High School.

When she was 15, she was on the Discovery Kids TV show Endurance: Hawaii (season 3). That's also the age Alex signed on with Def Jam Recordings as an affiliated artist.

In 2015, Alex featured as Chris Brown's love interest in the music video for Jamie Foxx's "You Changed Me".

K-Pop Career

On November 4, DR Music announced that they had recruited a new African-American member to their girl group RaNiA. Due to visa issues, Alex was unable to participate in either filming for the Demonstrate music video (her parts were filmed and added in separately) or recording the album, and as a result her rap was only featured in one song on the Demonstrate album and she was not included in the main choreography.

In early 2015, DR Music announced that Alex and member Hyeme would be making a hip-hop sub-unit debut in June, however the plans did not go through. It was also announced at the same time that a group comeback would happen in August, but that also did not occur.

On August 15, 2016, Alex announced on Twitter that she was the new leader of RaNiA.

Musical Styles & Influences

Alex is the leader and rapper of the group RaNiA. Her favorite type of music is Celtic. She also enjoys listening to Eminem, Alanis Morissette, Spice Girls, and Britney Spears.
