Amy Hayes (born November 24, 1973) is an American Ring Announcer and model. She is the first female ring announcer for the sport of boxing in the world. She is a regular on Fox Sports Net. and a former regular on ESPN2's Friday Night Fights, Amy has also announced on USA, ESPN, and Showtime. She has also been featured on Best Damn Sports Show Period. Her biggest breakthrough was becoming the exclusive Ring Announcer on Fox Sport's networks "Sunday Night Fights" series - under Promoter Dan Goossen, in 2001. Amy first broke the glass ceiling when she was asked to announce the very first episode of ShoBox: The New Generation on Showtime. Both were the first for a female.

Early life

Hayes was born prematurely in Wyandotte, Michigan, just a few miles from Detroit. Her father Morris was a broadcaster for a local radio station and The Union Chairman for General Motors Saturn Division in Troy, Michigan. Her mother, Freda worked hard sewing car seats for a living. Amy graduated from Specs Howard School of Media Arts in Southfield, Michigan in 1996 with a degree in Radio & Television. In High School she was a left handed short stop and third baseman making the All Star team most seasons. She landed her first big spokesperson/modeling job as Detroit"?s Miss Autorama in 1993.

Career

In 2001, Hayes began her career as a ring announcer. In 2001, Amy signed a 5-year deal with Fox Sports News to do ring announcing.

Boxing

Hayes became interested in boxing during her teen years, and after she landed her first gig as a ring card girl, decided she wanted to become the world's first female ring announcer. Amy began to disc jockey around the Detroit area, beginning at Radio X in Flint and moving to the popular WRIF rock station in Detroit.
