CSI: Cyber (Crime Scene Investigation: Cyber) is an American police procedural drama television series that is slated to begin on March 4, 2015, on CBS during the 2014-15 network television schedule. The series is a direct spin-off of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and the fourth series in the CSI franchise.

Plot

The FBI's team of Cyber Crime Investigators, headed by Special Agent Avery Ryan, works to solve cases involving the dark-net. Avery, a Special Agent in Charge and esteemed Cyber-Psychologist heads up a team, including Senior Special Agent Elijah Mundo, tasked with solving murders, cyber-theft, hacking, sex offences, and blackmail.

Production

Concept and development

On February 18, 2014, CBS announced plans to launch a new spin-off of the franchise. A backdoor pilot episode aired on April 30 as a season 14 episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Entitled CSI: Cyber, the show is executive produced by Carol Mendelsohn, Anthony E. Zuiker and Ann Donahue and is inspired by producer Mary Aiken's previous work as a cyber-psychologist. The new series revolves around Special Agent Avery Ryan (Patricia Arquette) in charge of the Cyber Crime Division at Quantico, Virginia.

On May 10, 2014, the series was officially picked up by CBS.

Music

The series theme song is I Can See for Miles by The Who.
