Daphne Nur Oz (born February 17, 1986) is an author and television host. On April 14, 2011, ABC announced Oz would be one of five co-hosts on The Chew, a one-hour live talk show exploring food from all angles. The show premiered in September 2011.

Biography

Oz, the eldest child of Dr. Mehmet Oz and his wife, Lisa, was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and raised in Cliffside Park, New Jersey, where she graduated from Dwight-Englewood School in 2004. Her siblings are Arabella, Zoe and Oliver. Oz graduated from Princeton University in 2008.

In August 2010, Oz married John Jovanovic, an investment fund analyst, whom she met when studying at Princeton.

On September 9, 2013, Oz announced on the 3rd season premiere of her talk show, The Chew, that she and her husband were expecting their first child and that the due date was approximately February 2014.

Career

Author

Oz is the author of New York Times Bestselling Relish: An Adventure in Food, Style, and Everyday Fun, a total lifestyle guide with the goal of maximizing every moment and "fill[ing] your life with fun." In the book, Oz includes her brand of healthy and indulgent everyday recipes, tips and tricks to maximize style, relationship and career advice, and personal anecdotes through which she shares her own journey towards a relished existence.

Oz's first book, the national bestseller The Dorm Room Diet (Newmarket Press, 2006), documented her successful approach to avoiding the "Freshman 15". The book aims to encourage students to see their time on campus as an opportunity to develop healthy, adult habits that will last them a lifetime. The healthy lifestyle she advocates, combined with the unique perspective she offered writing for college students as a current student herself, earned her notices in The New York Times,The Wall Street Journal,People, The Washington PostReader's Digest Teen Vogue, Cosmo Girl! and Seventeen. She has appeared on Good Morning America, Fox & Friends, The Dr. Oz Show, The Nate Berkus Show, The Tyra Banks Show, and NPR Weekend Edition. In 2007, she published The Dorm Room Diet Planner (Newmarket Press, 2007).

Together with the cast of The Chew, Oz authored The Chew: Food. Life. Fun. book, a multi-week New York Times Bestseller.

Oz has also written articles for Glamour Magazine, and The Huffington Post. She debuted a nationally syndicated column with Creators Syndicate in April 2011. Her column, "Food for Thought", covers health, relationship, and lifestyle advice.

Public speaking

Daphne Oz believes in happy, healthy living based on the successful strategies she developed to permanently shed more than thirty pounds while still enjoying all the foods she loves. She is all about finding innovative ways to fill her life with smart, accessible luxury and sharing her practical tips for making the process fun and easy. In 2008, Daphne Oz was invited to speak at The Governor's Women's Conference, hosted by Maria Shriver. Oz was a featured speaker at The Aspen Institute's 2009 Aspen Health Forum. In 2011, Lisa and Daphne Oz were the featured speakers at WCBS Radio's Working Women's Luncheon. Daphne Oz has delivered addresses to campus audiences across the country including Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania, Brown University, and Georgetown University.

Non-profit work

Oz is an ambassador for and helped to establish HealthCorps, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit that equips teenagers with nutrition, exercise, and stress management education in over 50 schools nationwide.

Television
