Diary of a Nudist, also known as Diary of a Girl Reporter, Diary of a Naturist, Girl Reporter Diary, Nature Camp Confidential, Nature Camp Diary and Nudist Confidential, is an American 1961 nudist film produced and directed by Doris Wishman.

Plot

Arthur Sherwood (Norman Casserly), editor-in-chief of The Evening Times ("The News of the Day Is Your News ... Today") stumbles upon a nudist colony on a hunting trip and smells a good story. He makes Stacy Taylor (Davee Decker), his best reporter, join the Nudist club so she can expose the immorality of the camp from the inside.

However, Stacy grows fond of the nudists and convinced of their healthy and natural life style. Arthur fires her for disobeying him and joins the club himself. Only his exposé turns into praise as well.

Production

The self-taught filmmaker Doris Wishman's goal of the movie was to address the simple joys of nudism in order to get nudists' cooperation while packaging all the base requirements necessary for bookings into the grindhouses of the nudie-cutie variety. She had borrowed $10,000 from a family member in 1959, which he used on composing the film. The film was shot in Sunny Palms Lodge in Homestead, Florida, and volunteer members of nudist organizations would cast in the film.

Copious footage of men, women and families engaging socially and pursuing recreation was included, and the film's little screentime is dedicated to the story's conflict and resolution. The film's plot is firmly situated in median-income Americana. Her previous films, Nude on the Moon and Blaze Starr Goes Nudist, did not collect as much visual data as if an average worker would work only a reasonable number of hours per week, as in Diary.
