Jean Kasem (born Jean Thompson in 1963) is an American actress.

Biography

Early life

She attended Academy of Our Lady of Guam High School in Hagåtña, Guam.

Career

She played Loretta Tortelli, the dim-witted wife of Nick Tortelli (Dan Hedaya) on Cheers and the short-lived spinoff The Tortellis. She also had a brief appearance in Ghostbusters as one of Louis Tulley's party guests. She has also been working as voice actor for cartoon shows including Darkwing Duck, 2 Stupid Dogs, Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!, Johnny Bravo, Mother Goose and Grimm and The Adventures of Don Coyote and Sancho Panda as well as the 1985 television special Star Fairies.

She also made guest appearances in several movies and shows such as Alice, Growing Pains, Cybill, The Martin Short Show, Matt Houston, Hunter, Nurses, Fall from Grace, Hollywood Squares, G vs E, Perfect Crimes, My Two Dads, Fantasy Island, Elliot Fauman, Ph.D, Dragnet, We Got It Made, Mr. Wrong, The 5 Mrs. Buchanans, A Million to Juan, Hollywood Women, Deborah Norville Tonight, Rock Hudson, Buddy Faro, Playboy: Inside the Playboy Mansion, American Film Institute Comedy Special, The Story Lady, Hope & Gloria, On the Edge, A.M. Los Angeles, Golden Anniversary of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, VH-1 Where Are They Now?, NBC Presents the AFI Comedy Show and Malcolm & Eddie. She was a TV spokesperson for the DES disease since the early 90s.

She holds eleven patents with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, all pertaining to crib and canopy design, developed for her crib business, Little Miss Liberty Round Crib Company.

Personal life

She has been married to Casey Kasem since 1980 and she was 17 years old at the time. They have one child together, Liberty Irene Kasem (born May 31, 1990). In 1989, her husband purchased a home built in 1954 and located at 138 North Mapleton Drive, previously owned by developer Abraham M. Lurie, as a birthday present for her. In 2013, he listed it for US$43 million.
