Justin Baldoni Biography

Justin Louis Baldoni (born January 24, 1984) is an American actor, director and filmmaker.

Background

Baldoni was born in Los Angeles, California, and was raised in Medford, Oregon, the son of Sharon and Sam Baldoni. His mother is from a Jewish family and his father is of Italian ancestry. Baldoni's parents joined the Bah' Faith, which Baldoni practices devoutly. Baldoni played soccer and ran track in high school, and was a radio disc jockey at a local top 40 radio station. Unfortunately, his hopes of playing professional sports were foiled when he tore his hamstring during his senior year. Even with his injury, Baldoni was offered a place on the Long Beach State track team his freshman year at California State University. However, he was not able to fully rehabilitate his hamstring in time, and Baldoni left Long Beach for Los Angeles. While moving into a new apartment building, Baldoni met a manager who advised him to pursue a career in acting.

In 2008, Baldoni wrote, produced, and directed his first music video that was selected and showcased at the Dawn Breakers International Film Festival.

In 2012, Baldoni created the most watched digital documentary series in history, "My Last Days,"? a show about living told by the dying. The second season of "My Last Days" aired on CW and third season will be released in Winter of 2018. On the heels of that success Baldoni founded Wayfarer Entertainment, a digital media studio focused on disruptive inspiration.

When he turned 30, Baldoni started spending his birthdays with friends volunteering and feeding the homeless. More friends started joining and the event grew and in 2014 he started the annual Carnival of Love with a mission to improve the way the Los Angeles community views and interacts those experiencing homelessness. The Carnival of Love has grown by huge numbers and in 2017 had over 2,000 volunteers.To support his work on Skid Row he started theWayfarer Foundation, which supports his work breaking the cycle of homelessness and supporting individuals facing terminal illness. In May of 2016 he launched a time-lapse video app for pregnant women and new moms called Belly Bump.

In 2015, Baldoni started playing "Rafael Solano" in the CW show Jane The Virgin.

Baldoni is scheduled to direct and produce an untitled "young adult tearjerker" for CBS Films based on an original script by Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis. He is also scheduled to direct and produce a film on the life of Zach Sobiech with Warner Brothers.

In July of 2017, Variety announced that Baldoni was developing a male talk through through his media company Wayfarer Entertainment. The show is described as a disruptive panel series that explores what it means to be a man today. The show entitled "Man Enough"includes prominent men like Matt McGorry and Javier Munoz.

In August of 2017, TED announced Baldoni would be a speaker at the annual TEDWomen Conference.

Personal life

After over a year of dating, Baldoni married Swedish actress Emily Baldoni (ne Foxler) in July 2013 in Corona, California. The Baldonis have a daughter, Maiya, born in June of 2015, and a son Maxwell, born in October 2017.
