Justin Chart Biography

Justin Chart (born February 6, 1960) is a Los Angeles based singer-songwriter and producer. Chart is known for his song, "Los Angeles The Song".

Early life

Chart was born on February 6, 1960 in Los Angeles, California, to Lee Chart and Betty Chart. His father was a professional boxer from Brooklyn, New York. His mother was a professional opera singer. As an opera singer, she performed mainly in New York, New York, Chicago, Illinois, and Los Angeles, California where she eventually resided. Chart credits his mother as an early influence to his music career. Chart started playing piano at the age of 5 and by the age of 11 learned the clarinet and sax. As a young teenager, he was chosen to record an album with 2 orchestras as soloist. After high school, Chart earned a full music scholarship to the College School for the performing Arts in London, England. There, he majored in music.

Career

Chart is an accomplished songwriter, working on such films such as Key Exchange (1985), Back To School (1986), Full Metal Jacket (1987), Born To Race (1988), Speed Zone (1989), The Hitman (1991), and others. He also worked as a songwriter on various Television shows ranging different genres. Drama shows such as, I"?ll Take Manhattan (1987), and Buck James (1987 - Columbia Tri Star). He worked on sitcom shows as well, most notably, Brothers (1989 - CBS Studios pilot), and Eat This! (2003 Public Access Television). Chart saw prominent success when he worked on for Public Access Television miniseries, Robin Hood which aired in 1989. He worked on the miniseries title track and score. Both well received by viewers.

2010s

In 2012, Chart produced, wrote and sung "Los Angeles The Song". It is described as an upbeat love song dedicated to his native city.

On April 19, 2013, Chart released another song "We Rock The World" accompanied with a music video featuring his band members.

To date, Chart has created five different versions of "Los Angeles The Song", featuring different members of his band including his daughter, Tali Liora Chart. The five versions are, "Los Angeles The Song", "Los Angeles Latin", "Los Angeles Dance Angeles", "Los Angeles Word", and "Los Angeles La Cancin". All five versions has been well received by audiences on various social media such as YouTube where each song is accompanied by a music video.

About 50 percent of Chart's video were shot in Santa Monica.

He is currently working on an all-new multi-cultural version"?the first of its kind"?of "Los Angeles The Song". The singers will include Los Angeles residents who hail from all 25 of Los Angeles' sister cities and three friendship cities on six continents. The song symbolizes the harmonious blending of unique cultures that is at the heart of Los Angeles.

Justin Chart currently lives in Los Angeles, California. He has a daughter.
