Matthew Laurance Biography

Matthew Laurance (born Matthew Dycoff) is a film and television actor. Laurance appeared on Saturday Night Live during its sixth season.{

He was born in Queens, New York and raised in Long Island, New York. Laurance is the twin brother of Mitchell Laurance. He attended Tufts University.

He left SNL after a mere one season that totaled to only 10 episodes. He portrayed bass player Sal Amato in the 1983 cult hit Eddie and the Cruisers, and was the only cast member besides Michael Par and Michael Antunes to appear in the 1989 sequel Eddie and the Cruisers II: Eddie Lives!

He also had a role in Streets of Fire. as one of the two Ardmore cops that entered the bus Tom Cody (Michael Pare) was on making this the third film he played in with Michael Pare, the other being Popeye Doyle.

He also starred as a detective novelist in Duet on Fox from 1987-89. He also appeared on TV in thirtysomething.

From 1991-2000 he had the recurring role of Mel Silver, father of David Silver and Erin Silver from Beverly Hills, 90210.
