NCR: Not Criminally Responsible

NCR: Not Criminally Responsible Information

NCR: Not Criminally Responsible is a 2013 documentary film by John Kastner exploring the personal impact of the mental disorder defence in Canada, following the stories of a man who stabbed and badly injured a woman in a shopping mall while in a delusional state, and his traumatized victim. The film will premiere at the 2013 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival. It is produced by the National Film Board of Canada.

During filming, the victim agreed to appear in the documentary only if her face were partially concealed, for her safety and privacy. However, for the film's premiere, she agreed to be introduced to the audience and take questions, and allowed her photo to be taken and published for the first time, by the Toronto Star. She has also accepted an apology from her attacker.
