Raina Hein Biography

Raina Hein (born in July 18, 1987 in Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA) is an American fashion model. She is best known as the runner-up of the fourteenth cycle of America's Next Top Model.

Early life

Hein grew up in Minnetonka, Minnesota. Before her appearance on America's Next Top Model she was a volleyball player, and received a scholarship to college for volleyball. Hein was part of a two-time NCAA National Championship team, which she says she will never forget, but decided to let volleyball go after the next season, and left the team. She attended Concordia University of St. Paul majoring in mass communications, she graduated in 2010. In her first interview and on her website Raina stated that she wasn't popular, and was shy growing up. She said she would get taunts such as "you have tarantula eyes", and "you need to get LIP-o-suction", but Hein didn't listen to any negative comments.

She decided to try out for the show, because her friends supported her. Before being picked to be on America's Next Top Model, Hein didn't believe that she would make it.

America's Next Top Model

Hein was chosen as one of the 13 girls to compete in New York City on America's Next Top Model. On the show she was known for her positive personality, and unique looks being told she looks like the new mix of Denise Richards and Brooke Shields. Although she did get criticized on her body type not being petite but not plus sized or big, she received one first call-out, two second call-outs, and three third call-outs. She was in the bottom two in the episode Hobbits vs. Models for not being able to handle edgy and out of her range photos. Hein made it to the final two girls with Krista White. Though the judges loved Hein's fresh face, great photos, and was said to be better in her Covergirl shoot than Krista White, at the end she was the runner up because they felt that Krista White would have a better chance at an international career.

Raina Hein has modeled for Jenny Carle Summer Collection, Cliche Boutique, Twin Cities Statement Magazine, May 2010 edition of Seventeen Magazine, Harper's Bazaar Arabia, Harper's Bazaar UK and Hong Kong, Metro Magazine, Grazia Magazine, Shop NBC, Vanity Clothing, Ribnick Fur & Leather, Ellie Lavelle Spring 2011, Treats Magazine, Cosmopolitan Indonesia, Alpaca, Macy's, Target, Office Max, Mall of America, Jagress, Betsey Johnson, Women's Health Magazine, a cover of Glamor Couture Magazine, and she is the face of Symphony Retailers in Dubai.She has recently received a contract to model in Hong Kong for 3 months

Hein has been featured in commercials for Anytime Fitness, Macy's, Dave & Busters, McDonald's and Domyos, a European fitness line.

Hein's runway credits include Rachel Roy, Anna Sui, Envisions, Vera Wang in Dubai Fashion Week, Macy's, Bebe, and got the last walk for Amato Haute Couture.

Raina also appeared in the music video for Bon Iver's 'Calgary', and is scheduled to appear in the Daniel Cummings-directed short film 'Parallels'.

Raina plays the role of Catwoman for the Gotham Sirens and appeared in their Lady Gaga's video, "Bad Romance." Fellow ANTM contestant, Jessica Serfaty, appears alongside Hein in the video as the role of Poison Ivy (comics).

In September 2011, Raina wrote in her blog that she signed up with Major Model management in Paris.
