Sara Haines Biography

Sara Hilary Haines (born September 18, 1977) is an American television host and journalist. She is currently a lifestyle anchor for Good Morning America Weekend, correspondent for ABC News, and co-host of The View. Prior to joining ABC News, Haines was best known for her role on the fourth hour of NBC's Today Show, alongside Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, a position she held for four years, from May 2009 until August 2, 2013.

Early life and education

Haines was born in Newton, Iowa, where she grew up with her parents and three siblings as the second of four children.

Haines attended Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts where she received a degree in Government in 2000. At Smith, Haines played basketball and volleyball.

Career

NBC News

Prior to becoming a correspondent for TODAY, beginning in 2002, Haines was the Production Coordinator for NBC's Today Show at Rockefeller Center in New York City.

Haines was in the NBC's Page Program and graduated in 2002 before joining the Today Show.

Haines became TODAY's fourth hour contributing correspondent until she departed in 2013.

ABC News

Haines joined ABC News in 2013 as a correspondent and lifestyle anchor for the weekend edition of Good Morning America.

The View

Haines will be joining The View for season 20, premiering on September 6, 2016.

Personal life

She resides in Brooklyn and enjoys training for triathlons. She has two chihuahuas as pets.. On November 22, 2014 she married Max Shifrin in the Bahamas. Their son, Alec Richard Shifrin, was born March 5th, 2016.
