Scared of the Dark is an upcoming American supernatural thriller film written by Takashi Shimizu and Stephen Susco, directed by Takashi Shimizu, starring David Gallagher and Jake Weber.

Plot

The movie follows a young woman, who has a long-term phobia of the dark and a strange scar on her wrist that looks like a Japanese symbol. She is convinced that it is the source of her problems, but her father says it's a simple scar. She visits multiple doctors and no one is able to help her, until she meets an expert in the paranormal who reveals that it is a terrible Japanese curse. She discovers that two days after her scar bleeds, someone dies in the dark? Her boyfriend begins to see a scarred man who only appears in the dark. As the darkness becomes increasingly stressful and unbearable, they must figure a way to deal with the curse.

Production

In March 2012 it was announced that Takashi Shimizu would direct the film, produced by Ghost House Pictures and almost the same team as The Grudge. David Gallagher and Jake Weber star, with Ghost House Pictures announcing initial plans for the project to be shot in Los Angeles.

In May 2012 Yuya Ozeki who played Toshio in Ju-on and The Grudge has been announced to be part on the film with Teruyuki Kagawa, Production are talking to Alison Lohman and Marielle Jaffe for roles in the film and Hideo Nakata will be joining Takashi Shimizu to assist him in scenes of horror.
