Tom Gores (born July 31, 1964) is an American businessman, a billionaire with an estimated current net worth of $2.5 billion according to the 2011 Forbes list of World's Billionaires. He is the founder of Platinum Equity, a global private equity firm with headquarters in Beverly Hills. On June 1, 2011, Tom Gores and Platinum Equity became the owners of the National Basketball Association's (NBA) Detroit Pistons.
