The Real Housewives of D.C. is an American reality television series that debuted August 5, 2010, on Bravo. It is the network's fifth installment in The Real Housewives series. On April 7, 2011, Bravo announced that The Real Housewives of D.C. had been cancelled. This was a first in the history of the franchise that one of its series had not been renewed.

Premise

The series features five intriguing women whose relationships with each other, and within the city they live, are a compelling combination to explore the world of politics, society, and even race, as well as how the proximity to political power dictates where one fits within their society. In addition to bringing the viewers inside the lives and homes of D.C.'s most prominent people in the community, the D.C. housewives move comfortably from fundraisers and prominent events to discussing everything from issues about race to money and politics to relationships and high fashion.

Housewives

Mary Schmidt-Amons

Schmidt-Amons, is an active member of the Washington, D.C. social scene and the granddaughter of radio and TV personality Arthur Godfrey.

Amons was married to telecom executive Rich Amons for 26 years before they divorced in 2012. Together they have five children: Lolly, Ryan, Alexandra, Meghan and Matt. Amons listed her McLean, VA for sale in 2010, with the home finally selling on February 10, 2012.

On the business front, she is the founder of Labels for Love and marketing founder of The District Sample Sale, two D.C.-based charities.

Lynda Erkiletian

Southern born Erkiletian is the owner and founder of T.H.E. Artist Agency, a modeling and talent agency in Washington, D.C. She is also the mother of four children  " Aaron, Jessica, Mihran and Sam " and during the series they moved from Georgetown to a $2,075,000 mansion in McLean, Virginia. Erkiletian was born a Southern Baptist but says she converted to Judaism.

Stacie Scott Turner

Alexandria, Virginia native, Turner, is a successful real estate agent. She is a Howard University graduate with a bachelor's degree in business administration/finance and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She worked as Vice-President of Marketing at BET, Marketing Director at Sprint Corporation and Assistant Brand Manager at Proctor and Gamble (where she met her husband) before becoming a real estate agent. She resides in the Sixteenth Street Heights district of Washington, D.C. with her husband, Jason and their two children, Jacob and Catherine. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta sorority. Stacie and Jason later divorced in February 2012.

She has also appeared on an HGTV episode of Get it Sold.

Catherine "Cat" Ommanney

London, native Ommanney is an interior designer. She relocated to Chevy Chase, Maryland shortly after marrying Charles Ommanney, a photojournalist for Newsweek, after a brief courtship. She has two daughters from a previous marriage, Jade and Ruby. Before the series aired, it was reported that the Ommanneys had separated. Ommanney is seen composing her book about her "racy" escapades while living in London, titled Inbox Full, in the series and the book has since been released.

Michaele Salahi

Personal life

Michaele Salahi (born October 1, 1965) is engaged to Neal Schon and their home is in San Francisco together. The Florida native appeared as an active member of the Washington, D.C., social scene. She and her ex-husband, Tareq Salahi, are former residents of the Oasis Winery near Hume, Virginia.

On September 13, 2011, Tareq reported Michaele missing and perhaps kidnapped after Michaele had phoned him to say that she was on her way to her mother's house, but, according to her mother, had not arrived. She was located soon afterwards when law enforcement authorities discovered that she had run off with Neal Schon, guitarist for the rock band Journey and had not wanted Tareq to know where she was. Michaele had met Schon earlier and had remained in a very close friendship with him.

On September 16, 2011, Tareq filed for divorce from Michaele on the grounds of adultery and abandonment or separation. Tareq dropped the case shortly thereafter, but Michaele filed for divorce on December 15, 2011, citing the grounds of cruelty and constructive desertion. On December 22, 2011, Tareq responded to Michaele's divorce suit with a new filing for divorce on the grounds of adultery, desertion and construction desertion.

On August 20, 2012, Judge Dennis L. Hupp granted a final divorce decree to the Salahis following a contentious settlement proceeding. Hupp also entered a dismissal order for a $50 million personal injury lawsuit that Tareq Salahi had filed against the entertainment company, Journey, Schon and Sonata. Hupp placed the settlement, including the divorce decree, under seal, thus preventing anyone except the attorneys, their clients and Hupp from seeing the details. An anonymous source close to the situation subsequently stated that Schon had agreed to pay Tareq $12,000 plus Tareq's mortgage payments over the next year to settle the case.

On October 14, 2012, Schon proposed marriage to Michaele on stage during a benefit concert, offering her an 11.42 carat diamond engagement ring. Michaele accepted Schon's proposal and the ring.

On November 24, 2009, Michaele and Tareq entered the White House without invitations and greeted President Barack Obama in a receiving line for 400 invited guests. Three days later, the United States Secret Service publicly stated the couple had not been invited to the event and, although they went through magnetometers and other levels of screening, should have been prohibited from the event altogether. Bravo producers said they had been filming the Salahis before the dinner, but were told by the couple that they were invited. Both Salahis claimed no wrongdoing but pleaded the Fifth Amendment and refused to testify to their story during the subsequent investigation.
