The identities of the 16 castaways participating in SURVIVOR: THAILAND were unveiled today in anticipation of the series' premiere on Thursday, Sept. 19 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. CBS News’ THE EARLY SHOW officially announced the new group on this morning’s broadcast (although regular website visitors already know that the names and photos of the castaways were leaked last evening.)

TV listing information has revealed that Jeff Probst will announce the cast for "Survivor: Thailand" on the August 15th edition of CBS' "The Early Show" morning program. - July 16, 2002
The Kingsport Times-News of Tennessee reported today that a Kingsport, TN man was killed Monday evening after his car went off the road and into a ditch. Thomas W. Vance, 62 was killed when his truck struck a driveway culvert, went across the driveway, and came to rest in the ditch on the other side of the driveway. Sullivan County investigators said Vance was not wearing a seat belt.

The Chicgo Trtibune is reporting that former White Sox general manager (and current White Sox VP) Ron Schueler says reports of his daughter, Carey, being chosen as a contestant on the currently filming "Survivor: Thailand" series are untrue.

With the filming of Survivor 5 having begun in the past several days, press reports of Survivor 5 contestant identifications are beginning to emerge.

SNN reports that the castaways for Survivor: Thailand have been selected. In fact, they have just arrived in Bangkok, and sleuths have been tracking them every step of the way. The 16 survivors and 2 alternates arrived in Los Angelos on June 3rd checked into the Amari Airport Hotel in Thailand jin the early morning hours of June 6th. After survival training completes, filming is scheduled to begin on Sunday June 9th.
