The episode starts off with kind of a recap on the strengths and weaknesses of the last three girls:
• Super-Zen-girl (Yoanna) is really beautiful, versatile, and poses well. However, she tends to be inconsistent; will that be her downfall?
• Super-frizzy-girl (Mercedes) has really a great personality and would be a great spokes model. However, she was found to be too commercial on different occasions. Will that prevent her from winning?
• Tyra starts off by saying that some top models are born, some are made. Super-shy-girl (Shandi) is an example of just that. They took her from a geeky Walgreens clerk look and transformed her into this beautiful model. Her lack of confidence has been pointed out on numerous occasions. Will that hinder her?
The girls are all reacting to the elimination of super-Asian-girl (April). It seems like the girls were really not expecting that. They then talk about who they think is their biggest threat in the competition.
Then, they get Tyra mail, telling them that they will do beauty shoots. When they arrive at the photo shoot, super-makeup-dude (Jay Manuel) tells them that, since they are three very different ladies, they will be styled very differently. Super-Zen-girl (Yoanna) is going to be wearing a bike helmet to kind of balance off her beautiful face. Super-frizzy-girl (Mercedes) has her hair puffed. She says that she grew a little bit worried when super-director-dude (Nole Marin) started putting wire around her and around her hair. However, since she worked couple of times with him and she knows how funky he can get, she still trusted him. Super-shy-girl (Shandi) had her hair frizzed up a bit and had a funky makeup on.
At one point, super-Zen-girl (Yoanna) was looking at herself with the helmet on and noticed that the back of her hair was showing and she thought that it was not nice so she asked the hairdresser if he could cut the hair or something (she really wanted the shot to look great because she really wanted to impress the judges and all) and the hairdresser didn’t have time. So, she took matters in her own hands. She took scissors and cut her hair off herself. Of course, that did not go well. We heard a “Oh no!” Well, she made a mess of her hair, of course. There was a big hole. The hairdresser had to correct the mistake. Super-makeup-dude (Jay Manuel) said that it looked like the stress of competition really got to super-Zen-girl.

Super-frizzy-girl (Mercedes) was the first to do her photo shoot. She said that she was thinking of her competitors, particularly super-shy-girl (Shandi) while posing and was thinking something along the lines “Oh no bitch! You won’t steal that title away from me!” Well, it worked! She did beautifully. Super-shy-girl (Shandi) was next. Super-frizzy-girl said that she could see that super-shy-girl was looking at her while posing and she was not doing too well; she was distracted. Super-frizzy-girl gave super-shy-girl dirty looks, which is so uncharacteristic of her! Super-Zen-girl (Yoanna) was next. The two other girls were kind of trembling because she was looking so beautiful even with the helmet on! She did have a hard time posing both because she could not hear the cues really well with the helmet on and because it was kind of heavy too and they wanted her to make just minute changes all the time.
Back at the apartment, they have Tyra mail that says that the girls will meet Dsquared2 who are hot young designers from Milan. The girls learn that they are going at something very close to a regular audition for a fashion show. The guys from Dsquared2 look kind of identical but are still kind of individual and are freakish in completing each other’s sentences. Anyway, they interview the girls individually. They ask each girl why they should pick her and not one of the other two. The girls were very nice because, instead of focusing on the flaws of the other girls, they focused on their strengths. I believe that it was a wise move. Super-frizzy-girl (Mercedes) talks about how she is funky and will fit just perfectly with their clothing. The guys really like her bubbly personality. Super-shy-girl (Shandi) answers that she would bring some originality. The guys really think that she is beautiful. We don’t see super-Zen-girl (Yoanna) answering that question but she talks about fashion, how she would watch a certain fashion show on Saturdays, right after watching Scooby Doo; at this, the guys ooh and ah at Scooby Doo. The guys say that super-Zen-girl came across as very professional and someone who really knows fashion.
Next, the girls go to try the clothes because, after all, they need to see if the girls really have what it takes and if the clothes look good on them. So they all try the clothes and walk for the guys and all the girls conclude that the clothes look really good on super-frizzy-girl (Mercedes). I definitely agree.
