Irina Shabayeva is the winner of the sixth season of Project Runway along with her model, Kalyn Hemphill. Shabayeva is originally from the Republic of Georgia and is of Russian heritage. She has stated her favorite designer is Jean Paul Gaultier.

Project Runway

During Irina's time in Project Runway, she won three challenges, in Episode 5, "Fashion Headliners", Episode 7 "The Sky is the Limit", and Episode 10 "Around the World in Two Days." She is one of three contestants who never got any low scores throughout the season (the others being first runner-up Althea Harper and second runner-up Carol Hannah Whitfield). In the final fashion week challenge, Irina used the concept of "modern warrior women in New York City"; she cohesively showed the manipulation of the texture and used the colors black and gray to express her ideas. She integrated knitting and t-shirt and incorporated accessories into her collection, and finally was crowned the winner of sixth season of Project Runway.

After Project Runway

Irina has created several collections from which some are available in her website. She designed Selena Gomez's butterfly dress for the 2011 People's Choice Awards. Five time Grammy winner Carrie Underwood wore Irina Shabayeva's grey ombre gown on the cover of her new album Blown Away.
