Angela and Tony fell in love through letter writing and had been in contact for a year before appearing on the first season of Love After Lockup.

Angela, a mealth health therapist from Grenada, MS, began dating men in federal prison after the tragic death of her ex, so Tony wasn't her first prison romance -- but Tony insisted he would her last.

Tony was serving three years for possession of a firearm, however Angela's sons seemed more concerned that the 32-year-old hunky convict was 13 years younger than their 45-year-old mother.

Love After Lockup's first season showed Angela preparing for Tony's release from prison so the engaged couple could begin building their new life together.

However, Angela and Tony's plans went awry when Tony didn't get released on his expected date because there wasn't a bed available at the halfway house. 

The Season 1 finale ended with Angela commiserating with her friend Brenda, a former convict who appeared to attempt to warn Angela that Tony may just be using her as a sugar momma and planning to dump her upon his release from prison.

During a Love After Lockup: Where Are They Now? special that aired on WE tv in November 2018, Tony was somehow still in prison (there must be a huge backlog at that halfway house!)

In the meantime, Angela was shown visiting wedding venues and doing food tastings in anticipation of her wedding to Tony.

Before the Where Are They Now? special aired, WE tv also announced that Angela and Tony would be returning for Love After Lockup's second season.

"Last season we met Angela, who fell for Tony because he was 'hot and young.' Months ago, Angela was left waiting at the bus depot when Tony was not released as expected," the network teased in a press release announcing the Season 2 cast.

"This season, Tony finally gets released and is planning on running into Angela's open arms -- but Tony may have some competition, as someone on the outside has eyes for his 'old lady.'"

Angela and Tony were even featured in the season preview trailer for Season 2 of Love After Lockup, which premiered in December 2018 and concluded in March 2019.

However, Tony and Angela never ended up appearing in Love After Lockup's second season, and WE tv has never explained why.

A few weeks before Season 2 ended, Angela had tweeted she and Tony would be appearing on-screen "soon."

"I'm not certain In when we will be back on... but definitely coming soon," she replied to a curious Twitter follower on February 16. "Thanks for following."

Angela reportedly wrote a similar reply in a posting on Instagram.

"Some things happened that interfered... plan on seeing me in the future episodes..." she replied in response to questions about the couple's Season 2 absence, according to Starcasm.
