During the Friday, June 14 episode of "The Ben & Ashley I: Almost Famous Podcast," The Bachelorette alum Blake Horstmann admitted he had been worried about forming a "connection" or "an attachment" with his baby prior to his birth, and Ashley shared how her husband, Jared, can definitely relate.
"I didn't feel it, and there was a part of me that was like, 'What's wrong with me? Why am I not there yet?' So I would get emotional over that, like, 'God, I hope I love this baby. For some reason, I'm not feeling it yet,'" Blake shared with Ashley and her co-host Ben Higgins.
Ashley then chimed in, "Jared never puts his hand on my belly."
"He just doesn't care," added Ashley. "He does not care when it's [in utero], like, no attachment."
Ashley joked about how a baby never kicks for "anyone but the mom," and Blake agreed.
"It's a lot of weird emotions to go through together. But everybody kept telling me, 'Just wait until the baby comes out. Just wait until you see him and make contact,'" Blake recalled.
"And for me, it truly was that moment. The second I saw half of his little head coming out, I just broke down. Instantly, it was just like... 'That is my son!' And it was the craziest feeling, and it was a relief for me."
Blake and his girlfriend Giannina Gibelli welcomed their son Heath in April.
Ashley also admitted in May that she's "more nervous" about having her second child than she felt waiting for the birth of Baby No. 1.
"I think we're obviously a little nervous about how to juggle two. We are more nervous this time than last time just because you realize how much of a significant lifestyle change it is to have a child," Ashley told People.

"And then you're like, 'Okay, well we just got all this down pat and now how do you throw in a whole other kid?' It's just like, how do you go out with a kid? How do you keep your eye on them both in the house at the same time?"

Ashley acknowledged how she's going to have her hands full in her household.
"But I think we're just curious and anxious to see how it is to keep two people alive," Ashley said.
"But then I'm a lot less nervous about birth because I was petrified of it the first time around, and now I'm like, 'Oh no.'"
But Ashley shared how Jared is very "encouraging," especially when it comes to complimenting her changing body and appearance.
"He's always like, 'You're beautiful, you look great and it's all going to feel better soon,'" she said.
Ashley and Jared announced in late January on Amazon Live that they're expecting their second child.

Ashley gushed about how she can't wait to watch Dawson become a big brother.
"I think that he's going to be extremely affectionate, wanting to be very helpful," Ashley shared. "And I think that'll just melt my heart."
Ashley said she's also very "excited" to "complete" her family at that point and be able to say, "This is us."
The Bachelor alum explained that she's anticipating having "full concentration on the kids and not having to think about baby planning in the future."
Ashley also insisted that she and Jared are "definitely" done having kids.
"We both come from families with two siblings and that's just what's in our hearts," Ashley concluded.

Jared previously shared how he felt "bad" for Ashley because she's never going to have the baby girl that she had hoped for, and Ashley admitted that she was "upset for a day or two" upon learning Baby No. 2's sex but she anticipates her boys developing a strong bond.
In March, Ashley and Jared had yet to decide on a name for their second child.
Ashley said she likes Dominic, potentially naming her youngest son after her father, but Jared likes Ethan, which Ashley apparently really dislikes. They also like the names Logan and Clark, but the latter was the name of Jared's childhood dog.
Jared also told Us Weekly that he'll always love the name Tom considering his admiration for NFL quarterback Tom Brady and actor Tom Cruise.
Ashley announced she was pregnant with her first child in July 2021, and then she gave birth to Dawson in January 2022 after struggling with hyperemesis gravidarum. She was very sick during her first pregnancy and threw up constantly.

The couple met in 2015 on Season 2 of Bachelor in Paradise, and they attempted to navigate an on-and-off confusing romance on the show that simmered into a friendship in which Ashley largely pined for Jared as he dated other women on Season 2 and Season 3 of BIP.
Jared said he realized his feelings for Ashley and admittedly wanted what he couldn't have when she sparked up a romance with Canadian firefighter Kevin Wendt on The Bachelor Winter Games.
Jared eventually won Ashley over and the couple confirmed they were dating in May 2018.
Jared then proposed marriage to Ashley and they got engaged the following month in Mexico while the fifth season of Bachelor in Paradise was filming.
Prior to their appearances on Bachelor in Paradise, Ashley competed for Chris Soules' heart on The Bachelor's nineteenth season and Jared found fame on Kaitlyn Bristowe's edition of The Bachelorette for Season 11.
