Big Brother featured Steve Arienta getting evicted from the house and Kaitlyn Herman coming into power during Thursday night's Season 20 broadcast on CBS.

"To say I'm not shocked would be a lie. I'm shocked," Steve told Big Brother host Julie Chen following his eviction.

"I was more than confident, which is Mistake No. 1... I thought having a double alliance where I could utilize both of them to carry me over a seventh vote was a smart play the first week, but obviously someone in the two alliance groups thought different. But listen, I have no regrets and I had a whole lot of fun."
In addition, Kaitlyn, a 24-year-old life coach from Plainview, NY, who currently resides in Encino, CA, won the season's second Head of Household competition to become the new leader of the house.
The Big Brother broadcast began with Steve saying in a confessional he would be "shocked" if his group -- Faysal Shafaat, Kaitlyn, Angie "Rockstar" Lantry, Haleigh Broucher, Scottie Salton, and Bayleigh Dayton -- didn't vote for him to stay.
Meanwhile, Taylor Crispen was trying to rally votes for Sam to stay.
Tyler said sending Steve home this week was best for the Level 6 alliance. Tyler thought he had Winston Hines, JC Mounduix, Kaycee Clark, Angela Rummans, Brett Robinson, and Rachel Swindler on his side.
Since Tyler couldn't vote as HoH unless there was a tie, his alliance needed to secure a seventh vote, and that was pretty tricky. Brett thought, however, they could pull Kaitlyn over to their side.
Kaitlyn then revealed she had developed "a very close friendship" with Faysal. But a showmance was budding between Haleigh and Faysal.
Haleigh got nervous around Faysal and felt "like a little girl" when she was with him. Haleigh clearly liked Faysal, but she was torn over whether to pursue a romance because she didn't want to enter a showmance that could possibly put a target on her back.
Kaitlyn wasn't sure what to make of the fact Faysal was hanging out a lot with Haleigh around the house, and it was only a matter of time until she walked in on the couple cuddling in bed and probably kissing under a blanket.

Kaitlyn worried she was going to be an outcast in the house, as the members of her alliance were all pairing up -- Steve and Scottie, Faysal and Haleigh, and Swaggy C and Bayleigh.
Kaitlyn thought it would be nice to keep someone in the house who wasn't affiliated with an alliance, such as Sam. Kaitlyn wondered if keeping Sam would therefore be best for her game.
Tyler said Kaitlyn's emotional dilemma could not have come at a better time because his alliance really needed a seventh member. Tyler insisted, as a result, that Kaitlyn was on the bottom of Haleigh's alliance.
When it became time for the houseguests to vote at the live eviction, Steve received obvious votes from Rachel, Kaycee, JC, Angela, Brett, and Winston. The surprise vote came from Kaitlyn, who decided to flip on her alliance.
Sam earned votes from Rockstar, Haleigh, Faysal, Scottie, Swaggy C, and Bayleigh.

The episode concluded with the next Head of Household competition dubbed "Land a Job." Tyler, as outgoing HoH, was ineligible to compete.
The participating players were required to launch a ball onto a series of corporate buildings, each with a corresponding salary attached. When a houseguest's ball landed on a salary, that number would represent his or her score in the competition. The person to receive the highest salary wins.
