Chris Harrison has been missed by many viewers on Bachelor in Paradise: After Paradise, so it may come as a shock for them to learn it wasn't his decision not to return as the host the after show this season.

After Paradise features host Michelle Collins, a comedian and former The View co-host, and her sidekick Sean Lowe, a fan-favorite The Bachelor star, talking about the episodes and interviewing guest and cast members once a week.

Bachelor Nation questioned whether Harrison -- who has hosted every variant of the The Bachelor franchise, even dating back to Bachelor in Paradise's Bachelor Pad predecessor -- opted not to host the after show, potentially due to his other responsibilities such as Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, which films in Las Vegas.

But when a fan tweeted at Harrison asking why he isn't the host of After Paradise this summer, he replied, "Very sorry but trust me, wasn't my call."

And when another Bachelor in Paradise fan wrote that the show is "not the same" without him, Harrison admitted, "I miss it too, thanks."

According to a source close to Harrison, he is "heartbroken" over not being asked to host After Paradise again.

"This is the first Bachelor show that he hasn't been involved with," the source told E! News. "He's really upset. Chris had every intention of being involved with the show."

Although ABC has declined comment, an insider close to the show explained Collins was chosen as the main host because she doesn't have all the behind-the-scenes information and knowledge Harrison is privy to since hewas on location when Bachelor in Paradise was filmed in June.

"They decided to try having a Super Fan host it," the insider told the website. "They wanted someone who wasn't on the island and who didn't already know what happened."

Harrison may also have the inside scoop on current relationships since he tends to become friendly with the franchise's cast members.

Bachelor in Paradise: After Paradise currently airs Tuesday nights at 9PM ET/PT on ABC.
