So You Think You Can Dance eliminated Brittany Cherry along with Carlos Garland during Tuesday night's live show on Fox.

Brittany, a 19-year-old Latin ballroom dancer from Toluca Lake, CA, and Carlos, a 24-year-old contemporary dancer from Jacksonville, FL, were ousted by So You Think You Can Dance judges Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy and guest judge Christina Applegate after they found themselves in the week's bottom-six dancers based on home viewer votes cast immediately following last Tuesday night's show, which featured the season's Top 20 finalists performing.

Brittany and Carlos' elimination, which occurred after they were both forced to dance for their lives, determined the tenth season's Top 18 contestants going into next week's show.

During a Wednesday conference call with reporters, Brittany talked to Reality TV World about her So You Think You Can Dance experience. Below is what she had to say.

Reality TV World: Were you surprised to be voted into the bottom six dancers and/or surprised the judges eliminated you?

Brittany Cherry: It was definitely surprising hearing your name, but also at the same time, it's not surprising because people do have to be in the bottom three and you do have a slim chance of being in that bottom three. You can't expect to be successful every week, so it was definitely a shock to be eliminated... And everybody has their reasons.

There was a reason why we were cut, there was a reason why we made it to the Top 20, you know? So you kind of just have to take it with a positive note.

Reality TV World: Nigel was not impressed with your dance for your life performance -- not just you but Carlos, Mariah Spears and Jade Zuberi as well. How did you feel about your own performance? Did you feel like you gave that dance your all or would you agree with Nigel that maybe you didn't showcase your best or act like you really were dancing for your life?

Brittany Cherry: Yeah, I feel as though there's always room to grow. You can always improve, but last night, I put myself out there and I did the best I can be. It didn't come off that way, but I'm very happy with my performance.

Reality TV World: Brittany, as a Latin ballroom dancer, you performed afrojazz with Blueprint and you got raving reviews from the judges. So what do you think happened, why didn't you connect so much with the audience? Was it the dance style itself that maybe you think is less popular amongst viewers or do you think maybe Blueprint stood out in the routine for voters since the judges kept talking about him?

Brittany Cherry: There's so many different factors and afrojazz is a very different style; It's not one of your more normal dance styles. And I don't know if it was easy for America to relate to or maybe they just thought we had it in the bag, you know, because sometimes when the judges praise a couple, America won't vote for them just because they're like, "Oh, I'm not going to vote for them. They're good, they're great. I'm going to vote for these other people."

So there's so many different reasons and explanations and theories that I have or that other people have, and to think of them, it just doesn't matter because it is what it is. I'm very grateful for what I have accomplished.

Brittany Cherry: This is my first time auditioning for the show, and I'm so surprised and thankful that I did make it to Top 20. A lot of people, like Carlos, have tried out many times before. So, yeah, I've been wanting to do the show since Season 2 and I just put my mind to it and competed.

Below are some additional details from Brittany's call.

Can you try to describe how difficult it was for you to perform right after you were eliminated?

Brittany Cherry: It was actually difficult to put it all together and perform after getting eliminated. But that's the name of the game; That's what we're trained to do. We are dancers and it's what we do no matter the circumstances. The show must go on, and to be able to end the show on a night of celebrating dancing and the fact we got this far and being able to be there for our partners made it so much better.

Is there anything you wish the show highlighted about you that it didn't? Was there anything that made you think, "If they had shown this, maybe I would've gotten more votes and could stay longer -- another week or so?"

Brittany Cherry: I mean, there's so many factors that go into what they do show and what they don't show and what -- to think of all the possibilities like, "Oh, I should've done this," or, "Oh, they should've done that," there's so many different scenarios that could've played out. It's a lot to wrap your brain around.
