Utopia's pioneers eliminated Red Vanwinkle from their society during Friday night's broadcast of the new Fox reality series.

Three Utopians had been nominated to leave utopia -- two of whom were voted on by their fellow pioneers and one of whom America determined. These nominees were people who either clashed with their peers or failed to pull their weight.
Red, a 42-year-old married handyman and farmer from Cecilia, KY, and Bella Chartrand, a 45-year-old single real estate entrepreneur and survivalist prepper from Griffin, GA, had been declared the pioneers' two nominations. Home viewers had voted for Bri Nyugen, a 20-year-old single veterinary technician and student from Westminster, CA.
Most of the pioneers seemed to want Bri gone because she wasn't living up to her potential and they thought she was two-faced. Red, however, made himself an outcast in the group and tended to cause problems. Bella also struggled socially in the environment, as she constantly fought with the show's cast.
Red ended up going to the hospital for a sore finger. He returned two days later and revealed he underwent emergency surgery due to an infection in his joint, which is basically a bone infection. Red, who said he was malnourished and had a weak immune system, received 36 hours of nonstop IVs and expressed the importance of practicing good hygiene in utopia.
Friday night's episode concluded with Red, Bella and Bri making a statement as to why they deserved to remain in utopia and avoid exile. Bella gave a moving speech about how she's lived with only two cats in 14 years and it's been difficult for her to get used to having so many roommates. Red said he needed "individual and group togetherness." Bri cried about how badly she wanted to stay.
In the end, nine votes were cast to oust Red from utopia, two votes were cast for Bri and one vote was directed towards Bella.
Rob voted for Red because he's turned his back on them, Josh voted for Bri because of her "negligence," Chris voted for Bella because she's tough to get along with, Ernesto voted for Bri based on her lack of performance, Taylor voted for Red because he's an "infection," and Mike voted for Red because of his "tricks."
Hex voted for Red due to his lack of apology for many incidents, Amanda voted for Red because he's not the best fit for their community, Dedeker voted for Red due to his power among them, Nikki voted for Red since it seemed like he was doing a different experiment, Aaron voted for Red simply because he preferred the two girls, and Kristen voted for Red due to his "irrational behavior."
