Andrae Gonzalo is an American designer (born 1973) who was a contestant on the second season of the reality TV show Project Runway. He is a native of Los Angeles and owned his own boutique called Forget It Jake in the city's Chinatown. Gonzalo attended a private Christian high school in Los Angeles, and graduated in 1999 from Otis College of Art and Design with a Bachelor's Degree in fashion design. His own fashion label, Andraegonzalo, debuted in the spring of 2003.

Project Runway

Gonzalo lasted until episode 9, the Garden Party challenge, of the show before being eliminated. During his time on the show, Gonzalo won the Window Shopping challenge in episode 6 along with his partner, Daniel Vosovic. He was also in the top 3 during the eighth episode, the Inspiration challenge. However, he was in the bottom two in the second episode, the Clothes Off Your Back challenge, and in the bottom three in the third episode, the All Dolled Up challenge. He is most known for having a mild breakdown while being judged on the runway for almost 10 minutes, and also for being the target of fellow contestant Santino Rice's jokes regarding a make-believe relationship between Gonzalo and Project Runway mentor Tim Gunn. Gonzalo says his design philosophy is to "take something ugly, strange, or unusual, and make it beautiful, arresting and extraordinary."
