Jonah Moananu Biography(Courtesy Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Jonah Moananu was a contestant on Season 3 of American Idol.

Audition

Known as the 808 State Freestyle Champion, he displayed his beatboxing talents to an ecstatic Randy Jackson at his audition in Honolulu (in actuality, they read his application wrong; they misinterpreted freestyle with beatboxing). He then sang the song Grateful which received positive commentary from all three judges, although Randy enjoyed the beatboxing a lot more.

Jonah was featured many times throughout the theater stages. For the group stages, he partnered up with fellow Hawaiians Sonny Kapu and Clifford Iokia to sing "Up On The Roof," singing their own version with lyrics adjusted to pay homage to the islands. They were the first group of guys to perform, and the judges all agreed they started the competition well, although they did feel the harmonies outshone the melodies. Of the three men, Clifford Iokia was eliminated after this stage.

Top 32

Jonah was then featured in the final cut before the Top 32 was chosen, as he was the first person to perform his solo. He then revealed to the cameras that he has always had to perform first in talent events like American Idol. Simon did not enjoy his performance, but Jonah did advance to the Top 32.

Jonah sang Stevie Wonder's I Wish for his semi-final performance. The judges all agreed the song was under-performed. Combined with the fact that Group 3 of the competition was filled with contestants perceived by the voting public to be front-runners, Jonah did not receive enough votes to advance to the finals, as LaToya London and Amy Adams advanced.

Jonah aka Big Mox is is featured on the compilation album from Rukkus Entertainment, entitled, Necessary Rukkus and features three songs. He has been entering freestyle competitions across the US and Hawaii, and has been emceeing at hip hop events in Hawaii. He has been a driving force in hip hop in Hawaii.

His upcoming album,'Jackson Helm' has yet to be released.
